English Premier League Standing and Results after GW2

This is how the English Premier League table appears after the full round of fixtures have been played out.  Leicester are top of the table for the very first time since their storied title triumph back in 2016 courtesy of a 4-2 success versus Burnley. Everton, Arsenal and Liverpool round off the top 4 with Palace in the automatic Europa League qualifying spot. Fulham, Southampton and West Brom occupy the relegation spots after round two of fixture. Manchester City earned all three points on road while Chelsea and Manchester United both suffered home defeats to Liverpool and Crystal Palace respectively.

SOUTHAMPTON 2-5 Tottenham Jose Mourinho aimed to avoid losing their second game of the league when they visited Saint Mary’s stadium. Off the pitch, Tottenham were buoyed by bringing old-boy Gareth Bale back to North London, albeit for a season-long loan alongside left-back Reguilon from Madrid. The early exchanges were marred with drama with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) correctly ruling out a goal apiece for the sides. Late in the first half, Ings scored and Kane assisted Son for an equaliser leaving the sides tied 1-1 at the break. Whatever Mourinho told his charges seemed to work miracles as Harry Kane set up three more goals for Son allowing the South Korean to net FOUR goals in the tie with Kane scoring one more to make Ings late penalty a mere consolation as Spurs won 5-2 against Southampton to give them their first three points of the campaign while Southampton lost their second match in as many attempts. Arsenal 2-1 Westham The Gunner’s, playing at the Emirates stadium for the first time this season were aiming to keep their hot winning streak intact when they welcomed Westham for an intriguing London derby. In other ranks, it was a Teacher-Student battle with Moyes going head to head with former trainee Arteta. Arsenal seemed to struggle in majority of the match, more so in the middle of the pack highlighting the need for further reinforcement in the holding and central midfield positions amid transfer speculations on these positions. The gunners got on the score sheet fast with Lacazette powering in amazing Aubameyang assist midway through the first half. Antonio continued his hot scoring streak in pulling Westham level and it was a 50-50 affair from their henceforth. Westham could indeed have taken the lead only for Antonio to power his towering header onto the crossbar when scoring seemed easier. Everton 5-2 West Brom Veteran Carlo Ancelotti guided the new look Everton side to a second consecutive victory in an amazing style in a 5-2 demolition against newly promoted West Brom. Englishman Dominic Calvert-Lewin specifically impressed in bagging his first ever career hattrick in a superb performance with Keane and new boy James Rodriguez bagging the other goals for them. West Brom got up with the best possible start with Diangana netting a superb goal from outside the penalty box before Everton drew level and took the lead 2-1 heading into the break. West Brom were later reduced to 10 Men before the 45 Minute with their manager Bilic being sent off also at the break following his confrontation with the referee at the break, who seemed annoyed of the first half sending off. Pereira buried in a superb freekick early in the second 45 to briefly level the tie 2-2 before Everton scored 3 in a second half massacre to maintain their 100% start to the season. S_ForSoccer Match Day 1 Review of English Premier League ( EPL ) 2020/2021 Season The EPL 2020/2021 Season is up and running, and as it has been in the new normal, soccer is being played behind closed doors. 16 of the 20 Teams were in action with the two Manchester giants being granted a one-week break following their mini-European tournament involvement thus their opponents Burnley and Aston Villa got a 7-day breather as well. How it faired:- Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton: (Zaha)  The eagles got their best ever start to the season with talisman Zaha scoring early on to give Crystal Palace all three points against the Saints who boasted 71% of the ball possession.   They had to defend resolutely and had keeper Guaita to thank for superb saves throughout the match. How it faired:- Fulham 0-3 Arsenal: (Lacazette, Gabriel, Aubameyang) .  The new boys Fulham welcomed Arsenal at The Craven Cottage to signal the start of the season. Arsenal under old boy Mikel Arteta, fresh from winning the community shield were determined to have a great start to the season and they got just that with Lazazette, Gabriel and Aubameyang providing a goal piece to their big win.   The result was buoyed by new signing Willian who amazed on his start with 2 assists and playing a great role in Lacazette’s opener having forced an error fr...
